Matthew 28:18-20
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
The Purpose of Harvest Students
We are a ministry of students stirring up others to worship Christ, walk with Christ, and work for Christ.
More than being a ministry “to” students or “for” students or “with” students, we strive to be a ministry “of” students. This statement inspires students to not just come to observe or participate, but to come and contribute. We exist to empower our students to minister to their peers. Having this as a part of the purpose statement is a constant reminder for students.
Our students are encouraged to stir up others to place their faith in Christ and begin to worship Christ. Throughout the New Testament the Christian life is described as a walk with Christ. A growing follower is one who desires to work for Christ by seeking to serve God by loving others. These three elements in our purpose statement have a secondary meaning. We encourage our students to worship Christ by attending weekend services (with the larger Harvest church family), to walk with Christ daily in His Word and in the context of the Harvest Students community, and to work for Christ by serving in some capacity.
