"Who do you say that I am?" This is a question for each of us. It was also the question we asked each person that God brought in our path Saturday night. And it will be the only question that will matter when each of us stand before our King to give an account of what we have done with what we have been given.
It was a wonderful night for the freaks, although a bit nippy. There were 3 freaks, and 2 freakettes - no "little freaks" this time.
The harvest was more than plentiful as the Hollidazzle had brought out loads of people to watch the glittering lights and the songs. There was Pinocchio, and a train with animals, and dancing trees and the grand finale, santa. And it gave us a wonderful opening to ask people. Could they name 10 things they saw in the parade. And they did. With great gusto.
"Can you name one thing that was missing?" Usually a great pause. And then the question, "was there a nativity scene?" And then the next question, "There are 10 commandments in the Bible, can you name them?" It was amazing how often people know the commandments but have never heard of the One who gave them to us for the sole purpose of showing us our desperate need for Him. Pure grace, and pure love gave us that law, for without it we have no measure of His righteousness, and know no need for repentance, or His ultimate sacrifice. I always look at Christmas as the day the plan for our redemption – to deal the death blow to sin and death – began. And each of us had the privilege of sharing the good news this Christmas season.
We got to speak to a spectrum of different people and groups. One group of three young men were heading for the mission field! They were so overjoyed to speak with us. That was the warm up for the atheist and his 5 friends. He was a biologist, so of course he didn't believe in our message. But he and his friends listened as we got to share the God who created him for a relationship with Him. We got to speak to couples, and we got to speak to those who had a massive distrust of those in the traditional church. And it was all with the privilege of shareing the singular message of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Messiah.
It was a wonderful night for the freaks as we handed out 250 million dollars - all with a message of life and hope. It was a wonderful night to share the good news to a world that may know of santa, but has no idea of the Lord. If any of you wish to join us it would be a huge gift, both to us as well as the people God leads you to.
Blessings to each of you, and may each of your hearts, and your homes be focused on the King alone.
